Job summary

Spotify is seeking a senior engineer to define the technical direction for policy enforcement infrastructure within Policy & Safety. You will architect a shared platform consumed by multiple product teams, design auditable, scalable enforcement pipelines, and build the data foundations that support durable, reusable decisions.

Based in London or Stockholm with hybrid options, you’ll mentor engineers and shape API contracts as teams migrate to the platform.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience designing and operating large-scale distributed systems.
• Backend engineering at scale with Java, Kotlin, Go, or similar.
• Experience with stream processing and event-driven architectures.
• Knowledge of schema and contract stability and evolution.
• Experience with workflow orchestration frameworks such as Temporal or Airflow.
• Experience with relational and non-relational storage for auditability.

Responsibilities

• Define the technical direction for policy enforcement infrastructure.
• Architect enforcement capabilities as a shared platform for multiple product teams.
• Design and evolve multi-signal orchestration systems for auditable enforcement.
• Build the data foundation that makes enforcement decisions durable and reusable.
• Own API and contract decisions: schema design and versioning strategy.
• Establish integration standards and guide migrations with clear end states.
• Influence architecture across detection, signal processing, and enforcement workflows.
• Mentor engineers and set the bar for API design and data modeling.
