Job summary

Obsidian Security is seeking a senior software engineer to join its backend team in a hybrid role with offices in Cheltenham and Manchester. You will build and evolve backend systems powering our core SaaS platform, focusing on performance, scalability, and reliability.

You will implement APIs and multithreaded services, collaborate with product and engineering, and apply robust software engineering practices.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Python, Go or SQL.
• Experience building backend services and APIs.
• Familiarity with containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong knowledge of relational databases (Postgres).
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP).
• Familiarity with Git and CI/CD tooling.

Responsibilities

• Build new backend processing systems powering Obsidian’s core product.
• Maintain and evolve existing systems for performance and scalability.
• Design and implement APIs and backend services, including multithreaded apps.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams on high-impact features.
• Apply strong software engineering practices across the lifecycle.
• Contribute to a fast-moving, collaborative environment.
