Job summary

US Mobile is seeking a backend engineer and hands-on architect to scale and connect millions of devices to wireless networks in York, UK. You will design backend services, deploy new features, and ensure high uptime across distributed systems.

You will work with Java and Spring Boot or Python, build REST APIs, and integrate AI-assisted tooling to streamline development. Collaboration with Product, QA, and DevOps is essential to success.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Hands-on experience with message brokers such as RabbitMQ or AWS SQS/SNS.
• Solid understanding of Git, CI/CD workflows, and agile development practices.
• Experience building and consuming REST APIs.
• Experience with NoSQL databases like MongoDB.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (Claude or Opencode).
• Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop backend systems and services to scale to millions of devices.
