Job summary

ManpowerGroup is seeking an experienced SC-cleared AWS Platform Engineer with Kubernetes/EKS expertise to join a cloud platform team delivering secure, scalable container platforms. This role emphasizes automation, platform reliability, and cloud-native engineering in a remote UK setting with occasional on-site attendance.

The ideal candidate will design and operate Kubernetes environments in AWS, implement IaC with Terraform, and contribute to CI/CD/GitOps and observability initiatives.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and manage Kubernetes platforms using Amazon EKS

Senior AWS Platform Engineer (Kubernetes Specialist)

Umbrella Rate: £535.00 - £565.00 per day (Inside IR35)
Location: Remote UK (occasional onsite attendance approximately once every two months)
Clearance Required: Must hold Active SC Clearance

The Opportunity

We're seeking an experienced SC Cleared AWS Platform Engineer with deep expertise in Kubernetes and Amazon EKS to join a cloud platform team delivering secure, scalable, and highly available container platforms.

This role is ideal for someone passionate about cloud engineering, automation, and platform reliability, with strong experience designing and operating Kubernetes environments in AWS.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and manage Kubernetes platforms using Amazon EKS.
• Implement best practices for cluster security, networking, scalability, and resilience.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and related tooling.
• Automate platform provisioning, upgrades, scaling, and operational processes.
• Support and enhance CI/CD pipelines and GitOps deployments.
• Implement monitoring, observability, and performance optimisation solutions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve platform and infrastructure issues.
• Apply security best practices, including RBAC, secrets management, and vulnerability management.
• Support development teams with containerisation and deployment strategies.
• Create technical documentation and promote platform engineering best practices.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Strong experience with Kubernetes and Amazon EKS.
• Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services.
• Strong Infrastructure as Code skills using Terraform.
• Experience with container technologies such as:
  • Docker
  • Podman
  • OpenShift
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD, DevOps, and automation practices.
• Experience implementing high availability, disaster recovery, and platform upgrade strategies.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes security and cloud security best practices.
• Experience withobservability tools such as:
  • Prometheus
  • Grafana
  • CloudWatch
  • Dynatrace
• Scripting or automation experience using Python, Ansible, or similar technologies.

Desirable Skills

• ArgoCD or Flux (GitOps).
• AWS CDK.
• Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA).
• Kubernetes security certifications.
• AWS Associate or Professional certifications.
