Senior AWS Migration Engineer

We are seeking a Senior AWS Migration Engineer to join our team on a contract basis. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and optimizing cloud migration projects, with a focus on leveraging the full AWS service stack and serverless technologies like Lambda.

This position is ideal for an engineer passionate about cloud architecture, hands-on delivery, and solving complex migration challenges at scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end migration of applications, databases, and services from on-premises or other cloud environments to AWS.
• Design and architect serverless and cloud-native solutions using AWS Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, Step Functions, and related services.
• Implement and optimize AWS infrastructure services such as EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, CloudFormation, IAM, ECS, EKS, etc.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to analyze current architecture, develop migration strategies, and create detailed runbooks.
• Automate infrastructure deployment using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like CloudFormation, Terraform, or CDK.
• Ensure high availability, scalability, performance, and security of AWS-hosted applications.
• Troubleshoot migration issues and optimize the transition process.
• Provide documentation, technical guidance, and mentorship to internal teams.
• Contribute to cloud best practices, governance, and optimization frameworks.

Key Skills and Experience

• At least 5 years of experience delivering complex AWS cloud migration projects at an enterprise level.
• Hands-on experience with AWS Lambda and serverless architecture patterns.
• Strong expertise across the AWS ecosystem (EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, ECS, EKS, SQS, SNS, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, etc.).
• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools such as CloudFormation, Terraform, or AWS CDK.
• Experience with AWS migration tools like Migration Hub, DMS, SMS, and Application Migration Service.
• Knowledge of security best practices, networking, and cost optimization on AWS.
• Ability to develop high-quality code in Python, Node.js, or Java for AWS Lambda functions.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and automation tools like CodePipeline, CodeBuild, Jenkins.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as a contractor.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Nice to Have

• AWS Certifications such as Solutions Architect Professional, DevOps Engineer, or Migration Specialist.
• Experience with containerization technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, or AWS Fargate.
• Previous experience working in highly regulated environments (finance, healthcare, e-commerce).
