Job summary

Addition Solutions in the United Kingdom seeks a Principal AWS Cloud Engineer to lead cloud architecture and strategy in a defence-tech context. You will own complex AWS environments, guide engineering squads, and set standards for security, scalability and IaC.

This hands-on leadership role requires deep AWS expertise, Terraform, CDK or Pulumi proficiency, and the ability to mentor engineers while collaborating with product teams across Bristol, Malvern or Farnborough.

Qualifications

• Extensive AWS experience designing multi-region cloud infrastructure.
• Proficient in IaC tools (Terraform, CDK, Pulumi) and security best practices.
• Strong leadership, mentoring and cross-team collaboration skills.
• Experience shaping cloud strategy and architecture at scale.

Responsibilities

• Architect complex, multi-region AWS environments aligned with roadmaps.
• Provide technical leadership across engineering squads.
• Design resilient, scalable, secure cloud systems.
• Maintain IaC with Terraform, AWS CDK or Pulumi.
• Develop internal developer platforms and CI/CD frameworks.
• Evaluate new AWS services to optimise tech stack and time-to-market.
• Drive AWS cost optimisation and performance improvements.
• Mentor engineers and promote engineering standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with product development to ensure integrated cloud infra.
• Lead technical decision-making and foster engineering culture.
