Job summary

General Dynamics Mission Systems is seeking a Principal Avionics Certification Engineer in the UK to lead certification strategy for airborne mission systems, software and hardware. The role involves defining plans, verification evidence and coordinating with systems, safety and quality teams.

The position offers a permanent, full-time role with a salary between £60,000 and £74,000 per year within a hybrid work arrangement.

Qualifications

• Significant experience developing or leading certification and compliance approaches for complex airborne systems or products.
• Strong knowledge of airborne software and/or electronic hardware certification, including DO-178C/DO-254.
• Experience defining certification strategies, plans and evidence.
• Experience interpreting objectives and guiding multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Own and lead the certification strategy for complex airborne mission systems and associated software/hardware.
• Define certification plans, compliance approaches and evidence requirements across the programme lifecycle.
• Interpret certification objectives and provide guidance to systems, software, hardware, safety and quality teams.
• Ensure certification considerations are embedded within product architecture and development planning.
• Lead reviews and audits of certification evidence, identifying gaps and risks.
