Job summary

Hunter Savage is recruiting an Senior Automation Engineer for a leading manufacturing client in Belfast. You will oversee specification, development, installation and validation of automation projects, delivering advanced solutions for bespoke machines and manufacturing systems.

You will collaborate with customers to capture requirements, assess technologies, and mentor junior engineers while ensuring quality and timely delivery in a hybrid working environment.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Automation, Electrical, Mechanical, Electronic or Computer Science or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of industry experience.
  • Experience with Rockwell Studio 5000 and Siemens TIA Portal is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the specification, development, installation and validation of automation projects within budget and guidelines.
  • Develop software for bespoke machines and manufacturing systems using Siemens & Allen Bradley.
  • Interact with customers to understand and meet technical requirements.
  • Assess existing technologies and processes to enhance performance.
  • Design and deliver top-tier automation solutions.
  • Provide technical support to operations.
  • Collaborate with a team and mentor junior engineers.
  • Document projects and manage change control.
  • Independently manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Take ownership of projects, ensuring timely and quality delivery.

The Role:
  • Manage the specification, development, installation, and validation of automation projects within budget and corporate guidelines.

The Person:
  • Third level qualification in Automation, Electrical, Mechanical, Electronic, Computer Science, or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of industry experience.
  • Preferable experience with Rockwell Studio 5000, FT View, Ignition, Siemens TIA Portal/Step7, OSI PI Historian, VBA.
  • Knowledge of 21 CFR Part 11 and GAMP is advantageous.
  • Cisco Networking qualification and/or VMware or equivalent is a plus.
  • Familiarity with robotics and safety standards is a bonus.
  • Strong knowledge of automation principles and procedures.
  • Ambitious, confident, and professional with excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills.
