Job description

We’re currently recruiting a Lead Automatic Door Engineer in the South East region for a globally successful Entrance Systems company that primarily serves airports, hospitals, retail, hotels, restaurants, offices and historic buildings.

Job Details
  • Location: South East region
  • Salary: £21.60 per hour (inside the M25 South East areas) and £19 per hour (outside of the M25 area)
  • Job type: Full time, permanent
  • Travel time: Paid Door to Door
  • Working hours: 42.5 hours per week – standard pay between 06:00 – 17:00; time and 1/2 between 05:00 – 06:00 & 17:00 – 21:00; double time between 21:00 – 05:00, Saturday PM & Sunday all day.
  • On‑call rota: approx. 1 in every 10 weeks.
Responsibilities
  • Supporting, mentoring, and providing on‑the‑job training to newly employed engineers during their initial onboarding period.
  • Working alongside new starters in the field to ensure safe working practices, compliance with EN16005 and adherence to company standards and procedures.
  • Acting as a technical point of reference for less experienced engineers, providing guidance on fault diagnosis, repairs and best practice installation methods.
  • Leading and undertaking high‑value installations and complex projects where senior‑level expertise is required.
  • Attending challenging sites to diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve complex faults that require advanced technical knowledge and experience.
  • Supporting management by reporting on training progress, technical competency and development needs of newly employed engineers.
  • Service, maintenance, repairs and fault‑finding on automatic doors (sliding, swing, revolving & disabled access).
  • Following EN16005 guidelines.
  • Providing excellent face‑to‑face customer service.
  • Communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Liaising with clients and management to ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Participation in the on‑call rota when required.
  • Completing paperwork accurately and on time.
  • Ensuring van stock is kept up to requirements at all times.
