Job summary

Hywel Dda University Health Board seeks a permanent consultant in Audiology and ENT to provide specialist assessment and management for paediatric and adult hearing and balance disorders across the Health Board.

You will lead audiovestibular medicine within the ENT framework, support workforce planning and teaching, and contribute to service development, audit and research, with exposure to a 7-session option and multi-site practice in West Wales.

Qualifications

• MSc in Audiological Medicine is required.
• Valid Advanced Life Support certification.
• Sub-specialty training to UK consultant level (fellowship or equivalent).
• Full GMC registration with licence to practise, or CESR/CCT due within six months.

Responsibilities

• Specialist assessment, diagnosis and management of paediatric and adult hearing and balance disorders across theHealth Board.
• Assess and manage infants from newborn screening, children with permanent hearing impairment, and adults with tinnitus, vertigo or progressive hearing loss.
• Provide specialist advice and leadership on complex audiological and vestibular cases, including domiciliary consultations.
• Provide clinical leadership in developing Audiovestibular Medicine within the ENT framework, including service innovation and pathway development.
• Lead and participate in multidisciplinary teams across ENT, Paediatrics, Audiology, Therapy Services, Primary Care and community services.
• Deliver services against agreed job plan commitments, supporting workforce planning, safe staffing and efficient use of resources.
• Participate in clinical governance, audits, quality standards and service evaluation.
• Maintain high standards of clinical records and communication with patients, families and colleagues.
• Engage in departmental, regional and national meetings and contribute to future direction of Audiological Medicine services.
• Support undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, training and educational supervision.
• Engage in research, innovation and continuing professional development in line with prudent healthcare and revalidation.
