Job summary

A leading UK healthcare organization is seeking a Senior ATO Procurement & Stock Control to manage medicines ordering, invoicing, and stock control. The successful candidate will have at least 2 years' experience in a similar role, preferably with NHS and pharmacy exposure. The role requires excellent Excel skills, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills. This full-time position offers 37.5 hours per week in Stoke-on-Trent.

Senior Administration and Clerical Technical Officer - Procurement and Stock Control

We are looking for an enthusiastic and self‑motivated individual to join the Pharmacy Procurement and Stores team as a Senior Administration and Clerical Technical Officer.

Main duties of the job
  • Ordering of medicines
  • Invoicing and payments
  • Monitoring and management of supply issues
  • Stock control
  • Liaise with stores and distribution department
  • Prescription management within the homecare service

The successful candidate will support the medicines procurement functions, including liaising with suppliers, other departments and external customers.

This post will be required to liaise with external organisation to facilitate the timely reimbursement process where the supplier has not been able to honour current contractual agreements. We are looking for someone who is able to show initiative; is helpful and approachable; organised and can work accurately; good IT skills, problem solving and communication skills.

You will have previous experience in an administrative role in a similar environment, with a willingness to work in other areas within pharmacy when required. There will be a commitment to support the stores area on a daily basis.

Essential Qualifications
  • 4 GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English – and NVQ2 in Pharmaceutical Services OR 4 GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English – and NVQ2 or equivalent qualification(s) in an area relevant to the role and a willingness to work towards NVQ2 in Pharmaceutical Services
  • Advanced keyboard skills and ability to produce and manipulate spreadsheets
Knowledge, Skills, Training and Experience
  • Ability to use Excel spreadsheets / Experience of inputting and manipulating data into reporting databases.
  • Interpreting reports and statements
  • Experience of evaluating and translating information from a variety of sources
  • Confidently communicate with suppliers, members of healthcare teams and members of the public.
  • Ability to work unsupervised and alone within departmental guidelines/SOPs
  • Ability to realise when it is necessary to seek advice or guidance on technical matters
  • At least 2 years' experience in a similar role.
  • Previous experience with invoice / credit processing and working with finance issues.
  • At least 2 years' experience working within the NHS
  • Previous experience of working within a pharmacy setting
