Job Purpose

To assist with identifying, structuring, developing and executing profitable Trade and Structured Trade Finance solutions for the Structured Commodity Finance team, in line with Nedbank business strategy.

Job Responsibilities
  • Achieve financial results set by management by assisting principals and associate principals in securing mandates which contribute to improved client service.
  • Assist principals and associate principals in the structuring of deals and advising of clients on funding options by originating, arranging, implementing and refinancing of Trade and Structured Trade Finance transactions for clients cost effectively, on time and within risk parameters.
  • Assist in maintaining market share of Trade and Structured Trade Finance deals being accepted and implemented through client pitches.
  • Assist in the compiling credit papers for presentation to Credit Committee for new and existing deals and assisting LMO, Finance and other stakeholders on the implementation of deals.
  • Assist with the cross-selling of other products offered by Nedbank by keeping abreast of Nedbank's offerings in terms of quality, cost, business expectations and compliance.
  • Support effective execution of transactions with complying with risk standards, monitoring and taking corrective action when required by modelling, researching, analysing investment proposals and executing legal agreements.
  • Assist in improving deal origination by providing multidisciplinary solutions, identifying and resolving work problems and delivering the required output to clients.
  • Ensure deals are implemented appropriately and adhere to policies, procedures and regulatory requirements by developing, maintaining, and running risk and pricing models.
  • Build and maintain sound professional relationships by understanding client needs and consistently meeting their needs.
  • Develop collaborative client and internal relationships by providing high quality advice, execution and delivery on new and existing transactions meeting business needs.
  • Meet and exceed client needs constantly by maintaining open channels of communication with internal stakeholders and ensuring smooth workflow.
  • Contribute to a culture conducive to the achievement of transformation goals by participating in Nedbank initiatives (e.g. staff surveys etc).
  • Participate and support corporate responsibility initiatives for the achievement of business strategy (e.g. Green Strategy).
  • Seek opportunities to improve business processes and systems by identifying and recommending effective ways to operate and adding value to Nedbank.
  • Support the achievement of the business strategy, objectives and values by reviewing Nedbank and Business Unit Plan and ensuring delivered systems, process, services and solutions are aligned.
  • Identify training courses and career progression for self through input and feedback from management.
  • Ensure all personal development plan activities are completed within specified timeframe.
  • Share knowledge and industry trends with team and stakeholders during formal and informal interaction.
  • Obtain buy-in for developing new and/or enhanced processes (e.g. operational processes) that will improve the functioning of stakeholders' businesses by highlighting benefits in support of the implementation of recommendations.
Essential Qualifications - NQF Level
