Job summary

Hoare Lea in the UK seeks an Associate Electrical Engineer or Senior Associate Electrical Engineer to lead client relationships and deliver technically sound electrical building services designs across projects in the built environment. The role is based in Bristol or Cardiff, with a strong emphasis on leadership, collaboration and delivering high-quality schemes.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical/Building Services Engineering or equivalent.
• Chartered status is required for Senior Associate; desirable/working towards for Associate.
• Strong technical competence in electrical building services and adherence to applicable regulations/design guides.
• Ability to lead integrated design teams and coordinate with other disciplines.
• Excellent client-facing communication and ability to manage difficult situations.
• Commercial awareness: monitor project costs and mitigate risks.
• Proven people leadership, motivating and developing teams.
• Highly organised with strong planning skills, able to work under pressure.
• IT literacy with proficiency in industry software and BIM workflows.
• Committed to continuous professional development and knowledge sharing.

Responsibilities

• Act as primary client contact for projects and represent Hoare Lea professionally.
• Lead and coordinate project teams across disciplines, manage workloads and meetings.
• Deliver profitable, high-quality electrical schemes and monitor costs and resource needs.
• Delegate, review and develop junior staff and monitor performance.
• Identify and mitigate business risks and ensure compliance with standards.
• Build relationships with clients, consultants and contractors to support repeat business.
• Lead larger multi-discipline schemes, participate in interviews and support bid prep.
• Support development and leadership of local team and report to management.
