An exciting opportunity has become available to join the pharmacy team at the Princess of Wales Hospital as a Logistics Senior Assistant.
Our Assistants are valued members of the Pharmacy team and this role is an opportunity to develop further in the areas of logistics and procurement.
The post holder will work closely with our team of Pharmacy Assistants to provide an efficient Pharmacy Logistics service providing support to the Senior Technician and Logistics Manager to include all aspects of ordering, receipting, stock control and distribution of medicines.
You must possess excellent communication, organizational skills and have experience in a procurement / supply chain management environment.

Applicants must have or be willing to work towards an NVQ level 2 in Pharmacy Service skills / Pharmaceutical Sciences. English and Mathematics GCSE to a level C or above is essential.
We will welcome applications from applicants who wish to work on a fulltime time basis (37.5 hours) or a part time basis (To be agreed with post holder) with normal working patterns being 37.5 hours (Monday to Friday 8.30-5.00pm) 30 hours ( To be agreed with post holder).
The successful post holder will provide support to the Logistics Manager and Senior Technician and under their supervision you will be involved in a broad range of activities including all aspects of ordering, receipting, stock control and distribution of medicines. The role will include manual handling and the movement of pharmacy goods within the department.
The successful candidate will also be required to be a trouble‑shooter for the automated pharmacy dispensing system being able to identify and resolve faults/problems with the pharmacy robot, evaluating potential causes and solutions and taking appropriate action.
Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn't mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh,we'll consider it an advantage when short‑listing and selecting candidates. This isn't 'fluency', just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health. Accurately goods receive pharmaceuticals checking and matching delivery paperwork, inputting the receipt data onto Wellsky and passing all paperwork to Pharmacy Finance Office to enable prompt invoice processing.
Create, review and process orders to nominated suppliers adhering to UHB standing financial instructions and Pharmacy Standard Operating Procedures.
Communicate with suppliers to ensure adequate, timely and accurate supplies of medicines ensuring that potential and ongoing supply issues are referred to the appropriate staff in order to maintain continuity of supplies.
Oversee the receipt and storage of medicines into the robot, prioritizing loading and identifying and resolving loading issues reporting to the Logistics Management Team where appropriate.
Investigate, follow-up and record any discrepancies with stock received, ensuring that incorrect, inappropriate, or damaged deliveries are returned to suppliers so that financial credits can be claimed and processed.
Check expiry and short‑dated stock records in robot and in Expiry file for items due to expire, removing these items from stock, issuing to waste and requesting reorder if required.
Participate in the induction and training of pharmacy assistants, pre‑registration pharmacy technicians and new staff by explaining and demonstrating duties.
To be a first line trouble‑shooter for the automated pharmacy dispensing system, undertake routine robot stock maintenance and provide training for all levels of Robot users to include basis users and troubleshooters.
Undertake rolling cycle counts of ward automated cabinets to maintain accurate stock levels and records, adjusting stock and reporting potential discrepancy problems and provide training in all aspects of Robot / Ward cabinet use, from induction of new staff to training new departmental trouble‑shooter.
