Job description

Senior Assistant Merchandiser | Buckinghamshire | £32,000 - £36,000

Looking for a place where play, purpose, and people come together? This leading UK-based retailer combines the energy of a fast-paced retail environment with the heart of a values-driven business. With a strong presence on the high street and a growing digital footprint, they're passionate about bringing joy to families - and that same spirit runs through their workplace culture.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Support category teams in planning and trading activities to help unlock growth and maximise profitability.
  • Partner closely with a Senior Merchandiser to deliver in-season performance analysis, proactively identifying risks, and recommending reforecasts where needed.
  • Contribute to category planning - from budgeting and option counts to depth of buy - ensuring product ranges are built with both precision and flexibility.
  • Help manage the International critical path by aligning key stakeholders to timelines, deliverables, and meeting schedules.
  • Collate sales history, market insights, and learnings to inform seasonal strategy recommendations.
  • Analyse best and worst-performing lines, using trade reports to surface insights and make actionable recommendations to improve partner performance.
  • Work with OTB and stock plans to spot opportunities and highlight risks across markets.
  • Maintain accurate space planning and store grading data to drive stock turn, optimise range efficiency, and mitigate overstock risk.
  • Collaborate with teams across buying, finance, and supply chain to ensure timely order fulfilment and smooth stock flow into each market.
  • Assist in preparing trade packs, commentary, and present findings in team meetings.
  • Liaise directly with International Partners and Account Managers to support commercial planning and product strategy, always keeping the end customer in focus.
  • Be the go-to contact for international commercial queries and step in when the Senior Merchandiser is away.
  • Continuously look for ways to improve how we work - challenge norms, suggest improvements, and help build best practices in merchandising.
What You'll Bring:
  • A background in retail merchandising or demand planning with a solid grasp of data-driven decision-making.
  • Strong analytical and Excel skills, paired with a keen attention to detail.
  • Confidence to work autonomously and juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to build strong relationships across different functions.
  • A solutions-focused approach and a passion for making things better - whether it's a process, a report, or a plan.
