Senior Assessment Review Officer – Somerset Council
  • Pay rate: £49.91 per hour
  • Location: Fully Remote
  • Contract type: Temporary, full-time

Pertemps is currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Assessment Review Officer to join Somerset Council. This is a fully remote role offering a competitive hourly rate and the opportunity to work within a highly skilled SEND team.

Responsibilities
  • Tribunal Case Management: Coordinate responses to SEND Tribunal appeals, prepare legal documentation, gather evidence, and represent the local authority at hearings.
  • Mediation Coordination: Arrange and support mediation meetings between families and the local authority to resolve disputes prior to formal proceedings.
  • Legal Compliance: Ensure all actions adhere to the SEND Code of Practice, tribunal procedures, and statutory timelines.
  • Stakeholder Liaison: Work collaboratively with parents, carers, schools, and partner agencies, managing cases with professionalism and sensitivity.
  • Advice and Guidance: Provide expert advice to colleagues on tribunal and mediation processes to ensure consistent and lawful decision-making.
  • Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain accurate and detailed case records, outcomes, and learning points, contributing to service improvement and best practice.
Requirements
  • In-depth understanding of SEND legislation and tribunal procedures
  • Experience in case management within a SEND or education setting
  • Strong negotiation and advocacy skills
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure while managing a complex caseload
