Job summary

Harrison Scott Associates are seeking a Senior Artworker / Pre-Press Operator to join a busy, collaborative creative and production team handling artwork and files for print.

You will bring at least five years of artwork and pre-press experience, expertise in Adobe CC (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), and a precise, problem-solving mindset in a Derbyshire studio.

Qualifications

  • At least five years’ experience in artwork, reprographics, Pre-Press or a similar production-focused role.
  • Strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop.
  • Experience preparing artwork and production files for a variety of print processes and applications.
  • A good understanding of colour management, typography, layout, file preparation and print production.
  • Experience with relevant Pre-Press, workflow or file-checking software would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of specialist artwork or design software would also be beneficial.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to check, proof and prepare files accurately before production.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • A collaborative, flexible and positive approach, with the confidence to work independently when required.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with colleagues across creative, client services and production to ensure artwork meets the required technical and production specifications.
  • Carry out pre-flight artwork checks, identify potential issues and make amendments where required.
  • Review and proof files prior to production, helping to eliminate errors and ensure work is produced accurately.
  • Apply strong knowledge of colour, typography, layout and print production principles when preparing artwork.
  • Manage colour requirements, including colour correction, image retouching and file conversions where necessary.
  • Use Adobe Creative Cloud extensively, particularly Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop.
  • Use relevant Pre-Press and workflow software as part of the production process.
  • Maintain an organised and efficient workflow, identifying opportunities for improvements where appropriate.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, working independently or as part of a wider team while maintaining clear communication.
  • Take a flexible approach to workload and deadlines, including working to tight production schedules when required.
  • Be based within a commutable distance of the office in Derbyshire.

Are you an experienced Senior Artworker / Pre-Press Operator who thrives on detail, accuracy and producing high-quality artwork?

This is an opportunity to join a busy and collaborative creative and production environment, supporting the preparation of artwork and files for a range of print and production applications.

You’ll bring at least five years’ strong artwork and Pre-Press experience, together with a good technical understanding of print production and the ability to prepare accurate, production-ready files.

Hours and Working Pattern

Hours are 08:30 to 17:00, Monday to Friday, based on 38.45 hours per week with a 45-minute lunch break.

Some earlier starts or later finishes may be required and will be paid as overtime. There may be some flexibility around start and finish times.
