Qualifications

Overview

Senior Applications Engineer – Bedford. Up to £52,000.

Do you have a proven background in pumps, pumping systems, rotating equipment, or wastewater? Are you experienced in delivering quotations, technical information, and solutions throughout a tendering process? Kingston Barnes is recruiting for a Senior Applications Engineer on behalf of our client in the Bedford area. Our client is a well-known manufacturer of pumping plant for the water or wastewater industry.

The Role

This role handles pump enquiries from initial request to final quotation, including selecting and pricing pumping equipment for original equipment, aftermarket, and bespoke tendered projects. It involves liaising closely with engineers to review drawings and bills of materials, providing technical support, and acting as the main link between customers and engineering teams through regular communication.

Key Responsibilities
  • Selection of pumping equipment to customer specifications and requirements
  • Prepare estimates and quotations for customers in a clear, detailed, and accurate manner ensuring they are on time and within KPI's
  • Ensure all data recording systems and costings are up to date
  • Build strong working relationships with customers and potential customers
  • Be fully involved with bespoke projects, providing technical input and support
  • Aid the sales manager when required
About You
  • A qualified mechanical engineer (HNC or equivalent)
  • Experience/knowledge of centrifugal pumps
  • Experience of preparing and delivering estimates/quotations
  • Experience working within an ISO quality system
  • Excellent IT skills including ERP systems and MS Office
