Job summary

A public authority in the UK is seeking a Senior Appeals Officer to represent the Local Authority at SENDIST tribunal hearings. ⚖️ Job Opportunity: Senior Appeals Officer – SEND (Social Care Qualified)

Client: Nottinghamshire County Council | Location: Remote | Contract: Temporary | 6 weeks | Full-time (37 hrs/week) | Start Date: 10 November 2025 | Rate: PAYE £22.85/hr | Umbrella/Ltd £30.17/hr | Day Rate: £400 | IR35 Status: Inside IR35

Responsibilities
  • Represent the Local Authority at SENDIST tribunal hearings, mediation, and resolution meetings.
  • Prepare and manage complex appeal cases, including evidence gathering and documentation.
  • Oversee statutory assessments and annual reviews for children and young people with SEND.
  • Lead on SEND development across Nottinghamshire, promoting multi-agency collaboration.
  • Ensure statutory timescales and standards are met across the locality SEND team.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Minimum 4 years post-qualification experience in children’s services.
  • Significant experience in mediation and tribunal work within a SEND context.
  • In-depth knowledge of SEND legislation, including the Children and Families Act 2014 and SEND Code of Practice.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, education law, and inclusion challenges.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Teams, Outlook, and case management systems.
