Job summary

Hangar 13 is seeking a Senior Animation Engineer in Brighton, with a passion for character animation and the technology behind it. You will own and advance core animation systems, tools, and pipelines, collaborating with animators, artists and engineers to bring characters to life with believable animation.

You will work on Unreal Engine 5 pipelines, state machines, blending, and runtime systems, while maintaining code quality and documentation.

Qualifications

• Shipped AAA game titles, ideally using Unreal Engine.
• Advanced proficiency in C++, linear algebra, and 3D maths.
• Strong experience with Unreal Engine, Blueprints, and animation principles.
• Hands-on experience in inverse kinematics, ragdoll and physics-based animation.
• Commitment to code quality and documentation, and the ability to learn new technologies.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Effective communicator across multi-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Work within Unreal Engine 5, adapting animation systems and building new tech.
• Prototype and implement animation features and runtime systems (graphs, state machines, blending).
• Build and maintain animation tools and pipelines for animators and artists.
• Collaborate with animation, art, design and engineering to realise creative goals.
• Assist planning with estimates and dependency checks for animation features.
• Identify risks and propose solutions to keep development on track.
