Senior Android Engineer

Bristol - (2-3 days per week on site) | £55,000 – £75,000

About the Role

Looking for a unique new challenge, and want to build tech that has a mission? If you are someone itching for a different type of Android role, this is the type of role where you’ll be building hardware-connected Android systems – not just your standard banking or retail apps! This isn’t your typical Android job. Senior Android Engineer opportunity available with an exciting engineering scale‑up who have organically grown to over 100 employees over the past 8 years. They are working on projects and are building products that support soldiers, firefighters, and first responders, helping them make critical, life‑saving decisions in high‑pressure environments. Essentially, saving lives with innovative tech! They are a SME sized scale‑up in Bristol who are consistently winning huge projects ahead of some of the larger contracting consultancies by being smarter, faster, and obsessed with building solutions that work in the real world. We’re looking for a Senior to bring deep technical expertise to the team, mentor other engineers, and help drive best practices while getting stuck into solving complex technical challenges.

Essential Experience

• 5+ years working professional as an Android Engineer
• Kotlin experience is highly . . . but we will also consider Java
• Experience working with Linux
• Collaborative mindset and empathy for end users – the kind of person who thinks about usability and accessibility.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001/27001 standards (or similar regulated environments).
• Hold a British Citizenship & eligible for SC security clearance

Highly desirable

• Android development beyond phones and consumer apps, ideally integrated with physical hardware.
• Bonus points if you’ve worked in defence or another highly regulated space – but it’s not essential.

Experience with any of the following…

• Devices with RF integration/Industrial scanners/Bluetooth‑connected hardware like heart rate monitors/Custom embedded Android platforms (Android TV, etc.)
