Job summary

Cirrus Selection is seeking an experienced Senior Algorithm Engineer with knowledge of Guidance & Control to join a science-led engineering and manufacturing business in the Bristol area. You will work on advanced G&C systems, real-time architectures, and sophisticated RF/IR sub-systems.

You will influence design and testing directions across programmes from concept to trials, collaborate across teams, and contribute to architecture, verification, and performance analyses.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in a physics, mathematics, or similar subject.
• Theoretical knowledge and extensive experience of aerospace guidance, control and navigation specification, analysis, algorithm design & implementation, real time architecture and verification.
• Ability to bound the scope of an engineering problem and to communicate the design challenge in terms of clear unambiguous design requirements/goals.
• Ability to manage complexity by identifying major drivers in a large, inter-connected engineering system.
• Ability to cross-verify complex systems and system models against underlying theory
• Ability to connect and communicate complex or conceptually difficult ideas clearly and elegantly
• Ability to diagnose abnormalities in an engineering system both physically and virtually through computer modelling and simulation (MATLAB & Simulink)
• Influencing technically when there are other factors driving teams
• A particular interest in applications with control experience, preferably applied flight control, but this is not essential.

Responsibilities

• Senior Algorithm Engineer responsibilities include developing detailed Guidance & Control design and expanding to higher architectural levels, demonstrating rigorous system analysis and management of complexity.
• You will influence the current and future direction for design and testing of G&C systems, spanning specialist algorithms, real-time architecture, and complex equipment.
• Collaborate across departments and programmes to progress from early research and concept stages through to full-scale development and trials.

Salary: Up to £65,000 P/A + benefits (Including excellent Bonus and Pension)

Hours: 37 hours per week

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Algorithm Engineer with knowledge of Guidance & Control Algorithms to join an ambitious, highly regarded, scientific engineering / manufacturing business that are in a position of sustained growth.

As a Senior Algorithm Engineer, you will develop your expertise both at a detailed Guidance & Control design level, and up through the higher architectural levels, where you can demonstrate a capability for rigorous system analysis and management of complexity.

You will influence the current and future direction for design and testing of sophisticated Guidance & Control (G&C) systems, spanning specialist algorithms, real-time architecture, and complex equipment including RF & IR sub-systems, inertial sensors, and actuators, amongst others.

You will have the opportunity to collaborate widely across departmental, directorate and national boundaries, and to be involved across multiple programmes at various points in their respective lifecycles, from the early research and concept stages through to full-scale development and trials.

You will need to be either a full UK citizen or dual national with British citizenship, as you will need to secure UK security clearance, potentially to DV level in the future.
