Job description

IBA is currently looking for a motivated individual to join the Consulting team, reporting to the Airline Analysis Manager, with the potential opportunity, subject to evaluation and experience, to progress into a management level role. The role is equally split between conducting the analysis that is the foundation of the market leading IBA Airlines credit product and strategic projects for participants in the industry. Typical projects include business analysis, market reports, airline and lessor due diligence, financial analysis, feasibility studies and litigation support. Sustainable aviation is also a key topic for our clients within this scope. A senior analyst would be expected to be able to lead a project. The IBA Airlines product requires regular analysis of airline financial reports with forecasting future performance, utilising IBA’s forecasting and risk methodology. In addition to this, IBA covers over 120 airlines with credit reports. The senior Analyst will be expected to be able to QA in both regards.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Research, analyse and update airline profiles within the IBA Airlines product, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial, operational, and jurisdictional information.
  • Monitor industry news and developments and provide insights to clients through thought leadership marketing pieces and project work.
  • Communicate effectively through written reports and slides for project work.
  • Produce Operator Risk Assessment reports and effectively QA the reports of more junior analysts, such that they continue to improve and work is delivered in a time efficient manner.
  • Assist in the development of methodologies for risk assessment and data analysis within the IBA Airlines product.
  • Conduct market research and perform both quantitative and qualitative analysis, gathering intelligence through multiple sources including our own extensive aviation data sets.
  • Build small operational models to support analysis in project work.
  • Collaborate effectively with other teams within IBA to deliver components of larger projects within internal deadlines, and manage smaller projects effectively such that they deliver on time and to the quality standard of IBA.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2:1 degree in economics, engineering, maths or another degree necessitating high numeracy.
  • >3 years of professional experience in consulting, or other dynamic and analytical industry roles.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑structuring ability.
  • Able to work precisely and productively, within a team, and to deadlines.
  • Ability to organise a project to deliver on time and communicate to contributors clearly.
  • Understanding of financial analysis.
  • Understanding of airline strategy.
  • Strong verbal and written communicator, team player and relationship builder.
  • Strong, demonstrable interest in, and passion for, the aviation industry.
  • Motivated to learn and self‑develop, contribute to a team effort and strive for high performance.
  • Highly Experienced in the use of Microsoft Office products, particularly Microsoft Excel.
Advantageous Experience
  • A candidate with multiple years’ experience across multiple divisions of an airline, or in airline strategy is highly desirable.
  • Further understanding of aviation business, aviation finance, aircraft technology, and sustainable aviation issues would also be advantageous.
  • Financial qualifications such as working towards the CFA would be advantageous.
