Job summary

Checkout.com is seeking a Cyber Security Engineer I to design and implement security for AI-enabled capabilities, ensuring governance and resilience across AI tools, models, data pipelines and supporting infra. You’ll bridge cyber security with AI tech, shaping secure AI deployment and enabling scalable AI adoption.

You’ll work with Engineering, Data Governance, GRC and business teams to embed security into AI systems and improve cyber defence using AI-driven playbooks and threat intelligence.

Qualifications

• Experience in cyber security engineering, security architecture, or a related security role.
• Strong understanding of core security domains such as IAM, cloud security, application security, data protection, logging and monitoring, and incident response.
• Knowledge of AI/ML and LLM concepts, including model deployment patterns, APIs, embeddings, vector stores, prompt handling, and common AI security risks.
• Experience securing cloud environments and modern development workflows on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Familiarity with AI security risks including prompt injection, data exfiltration, insecure model access, supply chain risks, model poisoning, and sensitive data exposure.
• Experience conducting architecture reviews, threat modelling, and security assessments for complex solutions.
• Ability to translate technical risk into practical guidance for engineering and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong collaboration across cyber security, engineering, data, legal, and business teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement security controls for AI and machine learning solutions, including LLM-based applications, model integrations, and cloud infrastructure.
• Assess security, privacy, and compliance risks of AI systems, including model misuse and data leakage.
• Develop standards and guardrails for secure AI use across the organisation.
• Review AI use cases and deployments to align with cyber security policies and governance.
• Build and maintain monitoring, detection, and response for AI-related threats and misuse.
• Identify opportunities to use AI to enhance cyber security operations.
