Job summary

Randstad Technologies in the United Kingdom (Sheffield) is seeking a Senior AI Prompt Engineer for a 6-month contract with potential extension. The role combines advanced prompt strategy with hands‑on software engineering to drive enterprise‑grade AI solutions across development and business workflows.

You will design, optimize and manage prompts for Copilot, Claude Code, and related AI tools; build PowerShell automation scripts; and integrate LLM capabilities into CI/CD pipelines and enterprise

Qualifications

• Proven track record in advanced AI prompt engineering and software engineering.
• Hands-on with code generation, review, and refactoring tools (Copilot/Claude).
• Strong PowerShell scripting and enterprise automation background.
• Deep SQL Server experience in large-scale environments.
• Proficient in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or C# for AI-enabled tooling.

Responsibilities

• Design, optimize, and manage prompts for Copilot, Claude Code, and related tools.
• Develop and maintain complex PowerShell scripts to support AI workflows.
• Build, support, and scale AI-enhanced automation pipelines and tooling.
• Integrate LLM capabilities into CI/CD pipelines and enterprise systems.
• Define prompt standards, governance, and evaluation metrics.

Job description

Salary: £130,000 - 143,000 per year

Requirements

• Proven track record in advanced AI prompt engineering combined with traditional software and automation engineering.
• Hands-on expertise using GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, and Claude Code for code generation, review, and refactoring.
• Deep proficiency in PowerShell scripting, enterprise automation, and system administration.
• Strong database background, specifically with SQL Server.
• Programming proficiency in at least one of the following: Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, C#, or advanced PowerShell.
• Hands-on experience with Azure AI, OpenAI APIs, or Anthropic APIs.
• Solid understanding of CI/CD, DevOps, and enterprise automation platforms.
• Familiarity with RAG architectures, vector databases, and knowledge systems.
• Previous experience deploying AI solutions within large-scale or regulated enterprise environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, optimize, and manage advanced prompts for GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot (M365 & Studio), and Claude/Claude Code.
• Develop and maintain complex PowerShell scripts to support AI-driven workflows and enterprise system integrations.
• Build, support, and scale AI-enhanced automation pipelines and internal developer tooling.
• Securely integrate LLM capabilities into existing platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and enterprise systems.
• Establish prompt engineering standards, governance patterns, and evaluation metrics for AI output quality and cost.
