Job summary

Kainos is a UK-based AI and data leader delivering production-grade AI solutions across government, healthcare, defence and commercial sectors. This Senior AI Engineer role focuses on delivering advanced ML/AI systems, driving modern frameworks, and ensuring responsible AI in large-scale cloud environments.

You will mentor colleagues, collaborate with customers, and contribute to ethical, scalable AI practices in a fast-paced, innovative team.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2.1 degree in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, Statistics or similar quantitative field.
• Experience deploying modern AI/ML solutions into production, including prompt engineering, RAG, model evaluation and drift monitoring.
• Strong Python skills with software engineering practices (CI/CD, testing, code reviews).
• Experience on cloud platforms (Azure & AWS), containerisation and orchestration (Kubernetes and Docker).
• Expertise in data engineering for AI: large-scale, unstructured and multimodal data.
• Understanding of responsible AI, model interpretability and ethics.
• Strong interpersonal skills and team working.

Responsibilities

• Deliver advanced AI solutions using state-of-the-art ML, generative and agentic AI tech.
• Drive adoption of modern AI frameworks, AIOps and scalable cloud-native architectures.
• Hands-on technical delivery and collaboration with customers to translate challenges into trustworthy AI.
• Mentor seniors and juniors, fostering innovation, learning and engineering excellence.
• Maintain responsible AI practices throughout development and deployment.
