Job summary

Ocho People seeks a Senior Solutions Consultant in Belfast. You will sit at the front of the funnel as a technical partner to the commercial team, turning client conversations into working prototypes using AI tooling.

This is a high-ownership, hybrid role with regular travel to client sites across the UK. You will lead discovery in the room, build near-realtime demos, and translate insights into credible solution outlines and roadmaps for the Solutions Engineers who implement them.

Qualifications

• Client-facing aptitude and ability to read room in complex environments.
• Consulting or solutions-engineering background with fast domain acclimatization.
• Hands-on AI prototyping and ability to build demos in real time.
• Solid Python fundamentals to credibly discuss engineering with teams.
• Experience with API-level LLMs and agentic tooling.
• Ability to convert discovery conversations into buildable roadmaps.
• Commercial awareness and understanding of how technical proof points move deals forward.

Senior Solutions Consultant

At a Glance

• Hybrid from Belfast with regular travel to client sites across the UK. If getting into Belfast regularly does not work for you, this is not the one.
• Senior individual contributor role in a Solutions Engineering team. No direct reports, plenty of ownership.
• Demo-led technical pre-sales: you build a working prototype around the client's problem, often starting in the room.
• Python fundamentals plus genuine hands-on work with LLMs and agentic tooling. Eligibility for UK Security Clearance is a bonus, not a must.

About the Company

My client is an established UK technology business with its own AI product, used by large organisations across some of the more demanding and closely regulated parts of the public and private sector. They are well funded, growing quickly and working with the kind of customers who cannot afford anything to be half built. The culture is low ego, high autonomy and heavily biased towards shipping.

The Role

This is not the usual pre-sales job. You sit at the front of the funnel as the technical partner to the commercial team, in the room with prospective customers, and your edge is turning a conversation into something working while the conversation is still warm. No fixed product demos, no RFP factory, no slideware. You listen to a client's world, find the problem worth solving and show them what becomes possible on the platform, using the latest AI tooling to compress discovery into a real prototype.

Everything you build is grounded in the platform and its roadmap, so what you show is buildable rather than theatre. You open the door and prove the value, then hand over to the Solutions Engineers who build it out. It suits a generalist who enjoys ambiguity, switches context between sectors happily and is as comfortable in a boardroom as at a whiteboard with engineers.

What You'll Need

Essential:

• Client-facing instinct above all else: you can sit with a prospect, read the room, adapt on the fly and turn the conversation into a demo.
• A consultancy or solutions-consulting background, or similar experience orienting fast in unfamiliar domains and earning technical trust quickly.
• Hands-on AI prototyping. You build the demos yourself, comfortable with LLMs, agentic frameworks and rapid prototyping.
• Engineering fundamentals in Python or comparable, enough to be credible with engineers and realistic about what can be built.
• API-level LLM experience and real appetite for agentic dev tools such as Claude Code, Cursor or Gemini CLI.
• The ability to turn a discovery conversation into a buildable solution outline and a delivery roadmap.
• Commercial awareness, and an understanding of how a strong technical proof point moves a deal forward

Desirable:

• Pre-sales, sales engineering or solutions-consulting experience in regulated sectors such as finance, healthcare or the public sector.
• Familiarity with open-source LLMs, RAG, agentic patterns or protocols such as MCP and A2A, plus cloud and container experience (AWS, GCP or Azure, Docker).
