Job Description
An agile delivery manager (ADM) in UNIDAYS is a role that ensures consistent and successful delivery of high quality software according to the goals and key objectives of the team, while learning and iterating when things don’t quite go as planned!
The role sits within the Engineering department (P&E) and reports to the Head of Agile Delivery.
In order to be successful in the role, you will need to be able to work with different stakeholders across the organisation to unblock issues, organise and drive work within the team. This will make use of your strong organisational and motivational skills as well as clear and decisive decision making.
Job Requirements
- A coaching mentality
- Previous experience as an agile delivery manager, scrum master or delivery manager
- Experience of working in a high paced environment with frequent change
- In‑depth knowledge of lean and agile processes and principles, preferably across multiple methodologies
- Energy, positivity and an excellent communicator. You’ll need to translate technical jargon into understandable language for the business
- Strong organisation and time management skills
- Previous experience using issue tracking tools such as JIRA
- Proven track record in delivering scalable and robust applications to business needs
- An understanding of how to deliver value in multiple steps
- Understanding of software development concepts
- Experience of managing conflicting and demanding stakeholders
Job Responsibilities
Process and software delivery
- Own the use of agile frameworks within the team, adapting methodologies to best suit the needs of the individual team and the business
- Take responsibility for ensuring all agile ceremonies take place and leading them where appropriate (stand‑up, refinement, planning, retrospectives etc.)
- Strong facilitation skills to be able to facilitate agile ceremonies and workshops
- Identify inefficiencies in the software delivery process and suggest and agree improvements with the team
- Use techniques such as story mapping to help teams break down work, ensuring an interactive and incremental approach to delivery
- Able to track and mitigate risks and manage any cross‑team dependencies
- Resolve and remove blockers as they arise to allow the team to focus on delivery
- Identify, assess and prioritise bugs and technical debt
- Align your team's delivery plans with wider plans across P&E and UNiDAYS
- Champion lean and agile best practice, supporting teams as we continually look to improve our delivery
- Establish and maintain strong relationships across all teams and stakeholders to ensure a coherent approach to delivery across the business
Communication and Interaction
- Work closely with the product manager to represent the business within the team, providing vision and context
- Represent the needs of the team within the broader Product & Engineering team, providing insight and conflict resolution where needed
- Reporting to Product & Engineering leadership on commitments, team performance and team health as defined by the Head of Delivery
- Communicating the status of work to stakeholders and Product & Engineering leadership
- Work with the other ADMs to share good practice and increase the effectiveness of agile within UNiDAYS
Prioritisation management
- Ongoing prioritisation and refinement of backlogs using business value as a prioritisation tool
- Provide backlog management, iteration planning and define iteration commitments
