Job description

As a regional specialist, you will leverage the expertise of our Global Mobility Centre of Excellence (GM CoE) in Toronto, Canada, to deliver tailored guidance and support to our business stakeholders, HR partners, and advisors. In this key position, you will serve as the primary point of contact for global mobility support, providing expert advice and HR generalist coverage for the UK and EU regions across all lines of business, including Capital Markets, Functions, and Wealth Management. Your strategic insights and regional expertise will enable our organisation to navigate the complexities of global mobility, ensuring seamless relocations and assignments that drive business success. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Global Mobility Relocation Management in Toronto, with a dotted line responsibility to UK HR, you will be an integral part of our global mobility team, collaborating with stakeholders to deliver exceptional employee experiences and drive business growth.

Responsibilities
HR Generalist 50%
  • Serve as a regional talent mobility specialist, providing expert guidance and support to the business on relocations into the UK, Channel Islands, and other European locations.
  • Collaborate with HR Partners and Businesses across the region to ensure seamless mobility experiences for employees while maintaining compliance and managing risk.
  • Work closely with HR Governance, Compliance and other groups across the Enterprise to identify and manage regulatory certification requirements for transferees and align with relevant departments, as needed.
  • Facilitate the formalisation of employment contracts for permanent transfers, working with HR partners, internal and external counsels, and other stakeholders as required.
  • Partner with global centres of expertise (CoE) and external partners to coordinate work authorisations, sponsorships, and visas, including expiration and renewal tracking and planning.
  • Provide quarterly reports to HR Partners on open mobility cases.
  • Monitor and manage information related to talent mobility into the UK and EU, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and policies.
Immigration 25%
  • With support and guidance from legal counsel provide immigration support to UK regional offices, ensuring seamless employee immigration experiences, including but not limited to student programs, sponsored work permits, and entry visas.
  • Collaborate with vendors to provide accurate guidance to HR, hiring managers to employees as needed.
  • Serve as a point of contact for immigration law firms and the enterprise, executing, educating, and training stakeholders on immigration best practices, timelines, and compliance responsibilities.
  • Offer expert guidance and support on visa queries, extensions, approval management, and clawback policies, leveraging subject matter expertise to ensure compliance and efficiency.
  • Provide immigration assistance, in conjunction with the immigration law firm, to new graduates during onboarding and training, ensuring a smooth transition into the organisation.
  • Together with RBC's immigration services provider, keep up to date with UK immigration legislation, policy changes and Home Office guidance and share with leadership and relevant teams if impacts to employee population are expected.
  • Proactively identify risks and/or opportunities to improve internal practices.
Global Mobility 25%
  • Collaborate with the Global Mobility Centre of Expertise (GM CoE), Immigration Advisors, and Relocation Management Company to support relocations in and out of the region, ensuring seamless coordination and effective communication.
  • Serve as the central point of contact for GM CoE on administrative needs related to Non-Resident Board of Director Travel Day Validations, providing timely and accurate support.
  • Partner with the Mobility Tax team to finalise annual authorisation lists and invoicing approvals, ensuring compliance with tax regulations and organisational policies.
  • Offer advisory support to the business, HR partners, and employees on talent moves and new hires, providing expert guidance on solutions, considerations, implications, and risks throughout the employee lifecycle.
  • Act as a liaison between transferring employees and stakeholders, including suppliers, COEs (e.g., Pension, Benefits), and HRBPs, to ensure effective communication and coordination.
  • Collaborate with GM Mobility Tax and Relocation Management to manage GM programs within policy, processes, and support tax and financial year-end processes, ensuring alignment and compliance.
  • Work with GM COE and vendors to finalise cost estimates, approvals, and letters, following established GM processes and procedures.
  • Participate in regular team updates with GM Relocation Management and Mobility Tax teams to ensure alignment, support, and increased learning and visibility, enabling effective support for the region.
Qualifications

Undergraduate degree or experience in a related field is required (Human Resources, Global Mobility, Immigration, Law).

  • Experience working with employer-sponsored immigration case files and managing immigration compliance. Experience managing immigration in a corporate environment, is an asset.
  • Demonstrated high attention to detail, partner orientation, and good advisory experience within an HR/global mobility function or role or related complex field.
  • Ability to lead discussions with senior leadership, work with a diverse range of stakeholders, and provide high-quality advisory support.
  • Capacity to work and learn independently, manage a diverse caseload, and prioritise tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to work collaboratively with team members, internal and external contacts, and provide support during periods of high workload or absence.
  • Commitment to staying up-to-date with industry trends and changes, and undertaking activities to support self-development.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritise tasks, and manage multiple responsibilities while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
