Strathmore College are recruiting for a full-time Senior Administrator to join our dedicated and talented education administration team.
The College: Strathmore College is an SEN college for students aged 19 to 25. What makes us different is that each of our learners work on a completely individual programme which is specifically structured to support them into employment and to gain an increased level of independence as they prepare for adulthood. Good links with employers enable learners to develop skills in the workplace to support their transition.
The Strathmore College building itself acts as a central hub from which a vast range of community-based learning takes place. Community-based learning is central to our ethos, with learners engaging in a lot of practical, hands‑on activities and work-based learning.
Responsibilities
- Line manage the administration team and maintenance team to ensure administrative tasks and services are provided to a high standard and by agreed deadlines.
- Ensure the effective operation of administrative processes and procedures, recognising the importance of enquiries or issues and applying the appropriate prioritisation.
- Supervise, coach and support new or less experienced administration staff regarding administrative duties and procedures.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of specific administrative processes/systems, for example effective record keeping and filing systems.
- Liaise and work collaboratively with internal stakeholders including site‑based staff and wider central services functions (Finance, HR, Recruitment). Take a lead role in the recruitment of new employees by providing administrative support to managers, undertaking a range of pre‑employment checks, and ensuring recruitment is legal, safe and meets regulatory standards.
- Ensure the accuracy, confidentiality and security of personal files and employment records in accordance with Group policy, best practice and current legislation.
- Oversee financial and accounting administration such as dealing with invoices, processing of cash (petty cash), checking transactions and undertaking reconciliation in line with our financial procedures.
- Have oversight of the local payroll, ensuring systems are updated in an accurate and timely manner.
- Work alongside and support the Regional Business Manager with the day‑to‑day administration queries.
Qualifications
- Has experience of leading administration teams and is confident taking a lead role in regard to specific processes/pieces of work with appropriate support if required.
- At all times will work collaboratively with relevant colleagues to fulfil the requirements of the role and contribute positively to the effective running of the administration function within the school.
- Has proven experience in multitasking and who is highly skilled and proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, Excel & Word.
- Has excellent time management and prioritisation skills in order to manage a varied and busy workload to meet deadlines.
- Have a proven track record of line management working with children and young people.
- Have significant experience of overseeing human resource / employee relations functions.
- Demonstrate flexibility and resilience to respond to the changing needs of those who we support.
- Have a strong “can do” attitude.
- Is familiar with H&S practices and processes.
- All applicants must be willing to undergo safeguarding screening appropriate to the post, including checks with Disclosure & Barring Service and at least two references which cover the last three years.
