Job summary

Contechs are recruiting on behalf of their client, a leading automotive organisation renowned for developing cutting-edge vehicle technologies and advanced lightweight structures. They are looking for an Adhesives & Bonded Structures Specialist to join their engineering team on a contract basis.

The role will be based in Surrey. As Senior Adhesive & Bonded Structures Engineer, you will be responsible for the development, validation, and industrialisation of adhesive bonding technologies across

Qualifications

Degree in mechanical, materials or automotive engineering.
Significant experience in automotive structural bonding.
Strong understanding of adhesion and fracture mechanics.
Experience with lab testing and qualification programmes.
Experience with Tier 1 suppliers and material suppliers.

Responsibilities

Define adhesive material requirements for structural and non-structural applications.
Select adhesive systems based on mechanical, thermal, durability, manufacturing, and processing requirements.
Develop bonding strategies for CFRP, GFRP, aluminium, and multi-material assemblies.
Establish adhesive design allowables, engineering standards, and material specifications.
Design and assess bonded joints for static, fatigue, impact, and crash loading.
Lead root cause investigations into bond failures and durability concerns.
Generate adhesive and sealing test plans from coupon-level testing through to full vehicle validation.
