Bring your experience. Shape excellent older adult inpatient care.
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced nurse to join Brant Ward as a Band 6 Senior Acute Care Nurse on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
Based at Witham Court, Brant Ward provides acute assessment and treatment for older adults experiencing complex mental health needs. This is an opportunity to take on a senior nursing role in a challenging and rewarding environment, combining clinical care, shift leadership and support for colleagues.
You will work with the multidisciplinary team to deliver compassionate, person-centred care, strengthen clinical standards and contribute to quality improvement. We welcome nurses who bring sound clinical judgement, initiative and a commitment to learning, teamwork and therapeutic relationships.
Building on your existing experience, you will contribute your ideas, develop your leadership practice and help shape how care is delivered. The role includes supervision and supporting the development of students and colleagues.
The appointment is fixed term for 12 months. There may be scope for extension or a permanent opportunity, subject to funding, service requirements and approval; neither is guaranteed.
Provide safe, effective and compassionate inpatient nursing care to older adults experiencing acute mental health difficulties, working collaboratively with patients, carers and the multidisciplinary team.
Undertake nursing and risk assessments; develop, implement and evaluate person-centred care and risk management plans; and deliver evidence-based interventions that support recovery, autonomy and wellbeing.
Coordinate shifts and provide clinical leadership, supporting staff to prioritise care, respond to changing needs and maintain safe ward practice.
Coordinate named-nurse care, contribute to clinical reviews and support admission, treatment and discharge planning across the acute care pathway.
Provide supervision and guidance to colleagues and students within delegated responsibilities, supporting learning, reflective practice and professional development.
Support the Ward Manager with delegated operational duties, clinical standards, audit, governance and service improvement. Promote reducing restrictive practice and recognise, respond to and escalation safeguarding or safety concerns.
Maintain accurate, timely records and effective handovers, practising in accordance with professional standards, Trust policies and information governance requirements.
Work flexibly within a 24-hour, seven-day inpatient service.
