A summer school program in Hailsham seeks a Senior Activity Leader to oversee staff and ensure smooth operations during activities. Ideal candidates have relevant sports qualifications, at least one year of experience working with children, and strong communication skills. We are looking for Senior Activity Leaders who have a good general knowledge of sports and activities, a good understanding of health and safety as it relates to sports instruction and some experience of working with children in a professional context.
We are looking for applicants who are organised, efficient and flexible and who are able to work in a busy, fast-paced and often challenging Summer School environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to work calmly, effectively and accurately even whilst under pressure.
The ability to build a friendly but professional rapport with staff members, lead them efficiently, set standards and norms of good practice and deal with any problems swiftly and appropriately, are all basic requirements of this post.

We aim to give students an educational, culturally‑enriching and memorable summer experience in a safe and supervised setting and we are looking to employ staff who will accept this responsibility, and have the necessary wide‑ranging skills, experience and commitment to help us achieve this goal.
£715 per week.
Statutory holiday pay is paid pro‑rata with each salary payment on top of the stated weekly salary.
Accommodation and meal are provided free of charge.
The Senior Activity Leader assists the Activity Manager to ensure the smooth running of the social programme which includes afternoon sports, activities and clubs, evening entertainment, Sports Academy instruction, excursions and, at some centres, the responsibility for the integration of local English children into the activities programme.
The post involves a great deal of preparation and forward planning and the Senior Activity Leader is responsible for ensuring that Activity Staff make good use of preparation time; this means making sure that session plans are varied, detailed and thorough and that all sports sessions and activities are safe, enjoyable and appropriate for the age group and interests of the students.
The Senior Activity Leader will often lead the staff briefings and they will ensure that the high standards expected by Bede’s are being maintained at all times during activities. They will also deal with any last‑minute changes that may be necessary, and are responsible for dealing with any problems, unexpected delays or student absences.
During excursions, the Senior Activity Leaders also takes on the role of Trip Leader, which involves responsibility for the itinerary, coordinating groups on the trip, liaising with staff back at the centre and making sure that the excursion goes according to plan.
The Senior Activity Leader will be there to offer support, guidance and advice to the Activity Staff and will work very closely with the Activity Manager to build a positive and motivated team dedicated to ensuring the success of the social programme.
