We are looking for a Senior Accredited Clinical Coder to join our award winning BI team. This role will be vital in ensuring that we deliver a high quality Clinical Coding service. We are looking for an experienced Clinical Coder who is interested in joining a small but perfectly formed Clinical Coding Team to support delivery of clinical coding. The team have recently received the highest level of assurance in the MIAA clinical coding audit.
This would be an ideal role for someone who has extensive experience and detailed understanding of NHS Clinical Coding. The ideal candidate would be an experienced accredited clinical coder who is interested in cancer specialisms.
The team are currently working in a blended fashion with an opportunity to work in our Wirral Site, Liverpool Spine office or to work at home. Compulsory on site working days do apply.
To provide an accurate, timely and consistent abstraction and coding of all relevant clinical information, relating to the diagnoses, procedures and treatments for all patients admitted to the Trust according to the coding conventions and standards of ICD-10 International (Classification of Diseases) and OPCS-4 (Classification of Surgical Operations and Procedures).
Applying independent judgement in the interpretation, transposition, and sequencing of clinical data to reflect an exact clinically coded representation of the patient's hospital stay. This data is essential for the effective management of the Trust and directly influences income in line with the "Payment by Results" process. It also forms the basis for clinical audit, clinical governance reporting, bench marking and medical research.
Accredited Clinical Coders will be trained coders who have achieved the National Accreditation in the National Clinical Coding Qualification (UK). Clinical coders are also required to attend specialist workshops and refresher training once every 3 years. This role requires substantial attention to clinical detail and a logical thought process. The clinical coding process supports the provision of data for the Trust's clinical activity.
A strong commitment to continued professional development is required including attending in‑house and external training to ensure that coding knowledge is current and reflects mandatory requirement and best practice.
