Job summary

Reed in Harrogate is seeking a Senior Accounts Officer to take ownership of the day-to-day finance function. This office-based role focuses on bookkeeping, ledgers, and reporting, with scope to improve processes and systems.

You will work with MRI software and other finance systems, maintaining accurate financial records and supporting month-end activities. The position offers a Monday–Friday pattern in a professional Harrogate town centre environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a senior bookkeeping, accounts or finance role.
• Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and procedures.
• Experience using accounting software and business management systems.
• MRI software experience would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting operations.
• Maintain accurate financial records, ledgers and reconciliations.
• Process purchase ledger and sales ledger transactions.
• Raising invoices and managing payments.
• Bank reconciliations and cash flow monitoring.
• Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
• Credit control and debt management.
• Assisting with VAT returns and statutory reporting requirements.
• Producing management reports and financial information for senior stakeholders.
• Supporting month-end and year-end processes.
• Liaising with external accountants and auditors when required.
