Job description

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Accountant to join a well‑established international organisation. This role sits within a central finance function in Aberdeen and plays a key part in delivering accurate, timely financial reporting for a complex Group structure.

The Role

Reporting to the Finance Manager (Reporting), you will be responsible for the monthly management and statutory reporting for a portfolio of Africa‑based entities, ensuring compliance with IFRS and group reporting requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ownership of the month‑end close process, ensuring accurate and timely reporting to Group deadlines.
  • Preparing and reviewing monthly management and legal entity results.
  • Maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, including reconciliation of projects and sub‑ledger modules.
  • Reviewing and approving journals and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
  • Supporting intercompany reporting and reconciliations.
  • Liaising with in‑country Finance Teams, Group Finance and Tax to ensure local statutory and tax compliance.
  • Acting as the key contact for internal and external audits, including half‑year, year‑end and statutory audits.
  • Supporting half‑year and full‑year IFRS reporting requirements.
  • Driving continuous improvement within reporting processes and systems.
  • Mentoring and developing junior finance team members.
About You

You will be a qualified or recently qualified Accountant with strong technical and analytical skills, ideally gained within a complex, international environment.

You will bring:

  • CA/ACCA/CPA/CIMA (part‑qualified or recently qualified), or a relevant degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of financial regulations.
  • Experience working to tight deadlines with a high level of accuracy.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs.
  • Confidence communicating with senior stakeholders.
  • Experience within an international group environment (highly desirable).
  • Exposure to Oracle or similar ERP systems (preferred).
