A fast-growing technology company located in Belfast is seeking a Senior Accountant to support corporate accounting functions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in GAAP principles and experience within a high-growth SaaS environment. You will play a critical role in managing journal entries and account reconciliations, while collaborating closely with various finance departments.
We are looking for a Senior Accountant to support our fast-growing technology company. This position reports to the Manager, Accounting based in Belfast, and will have interaction and visibility with senior leadership teams. The successful candidate will have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage competing priorities, and adhere to strict deadlines. The role will include working in several areas of corporate accounting while recording journal entries relating to payroll and all other employee compensation and benefits, including but not limited to healthcare benefits, 401K, stock-based compensation, variable compensation and employer taxes.
Review, analyze and prepare worldwide journal entries for month-end and quarter-end close in accordance with general corporate accounting processes relating to payroll and all other employee compensation and benefits, including healthcare benefits, 401K, stock-based compensation, variable compensation and employer taxes.
Prepare detailed account reconciliations, obtain corresponding support to verify accuracy of the actual financial results, and resolve any reconciling items timely.
Perform monthly, quarterly and annual variance analysis to ensure resulting financial statement results accurately reflect business activity and are in accordance with US GAAP.
Analyze and provide fluctuation explanations for employee compensation related accounts as part of the monthly financial close process.
Perform balance sheet reconciliations for related compensation accruals.
Assist in preparation of monthly and quarterly reporting packages for leadership and executive management.
Ensure and maintain related internal controls in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley. Actively engage in process improvements, including developing and maintaining Sarbanes-Oxley controls.
Research and provide updates on new accounting standards and their application to the Company’s business.
Prepare and manage external auditor deliverables and work closely with the external audit team regarding any quarterly review and annual audit requirements.
Collaborate with other finance departments and business partners to provide ad hoc research, reporting, and projects.
BA/BS degree in Accounting, Finance or Business or equivalent practical experience.
4-5+ years of progressive experience at a Big 4 public accounting firm or a combination of Big 4 and industry experience preferred, with exposure to a high-growth SaaS company.
Familiarity with the operations and related accounting for payroll, and stock-based compensation.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage competing priorities, and adhere to strict deadlines.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles as well as SOX and internal controls.
Proficient in accounting software and advanced Excel skills and proficiency in MS Office.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with team members, business partners, and stakeholders.
Detail-oriented, analytical, organized, and self-motivated.
