Job summary

SENse Learning is seeking passionate SEND Tutors to provide one-to-one support for children and young people in home, community, or school settings.

You will employ trauma-informed, holistic approaches, plan lessons, report progress, and collaborate with families and schools. This self-employed role offers flexible scheduling and part-time or full-time hours.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of post-NQT teaching experience, ideally with SEND, SEMH, MLD, SLD, or PMLD in a holistic, trauma-informed way.
• Understanding of child-centred, holistic teaching; ability to adapt the curriculum to individual needs.
• Enhanced DBS (can be facilitated) and 2+ professional references.
• Based in the UK with the right to work, for in-person/remote work.

Responsibilities

• Develop strong relationships with children and young people with SEND/SEMH needs.
• Provide in-person, online/remote, and hybrid tutoring and mentoring tailored to EHCPs and risk assessments.
• Plan and report lessons; give regular progress feedback to parents, carers, and schools.
• Deliver trauma-informed, compassionate tutoring to KS1–KS5 as appropriate.

SEND Tutor Role Requirements

• Experience: 2+ years of post-NQT teaching experience, ideally working with SEND, SEMH, MLD, SLD, and/or PMLD in a holistic and trauma-informed way
• Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS / QTLS)
• Approach: Understanding of how to work in a child-centred, holistic way; you will have the ingenuity and creativity to make the curriculum work in an individual, student-centred way.
• Compliance: Enhanced DBS (we can facilitate this if needed) and 2+ professional references
• Location: You must be based in the UK with the right to work in the UK, even for remote/online jobs
• Safeguarding: Knowledge of safeguarding and creating a safe learning environment.

The SEND Tutor Role And Responsibilities

• Develop strong relationships with children and young people who have a range of needs and who have often experienced significant difficulties in previous education settings.
• Provide in person, online/remote, and hybrid support to children, teenagers, and young people with SEMH and SEND needs, including MLD, SLD, PMLD, and other Additional Educational Needs
• Support pupils and students, ranging from KS1 – KS5 (as appropriate for your skills), referred by local authorities and schools by planning and delivering flexible, trauma-informed tutoring and mentoring tailored to the young persons needs, EHCP, and risk assessment
• Plan and report for lessons and provide regular feedback on student progress
