Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant (TA)

Location: Barnham

Pay Rate: £90 – £95 per day (depending on experience)

Start Date: Immediate

GSL Education are seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant to join a warm and inclusive school in Barnham. This is a fantastic opportunity to help pupils develop confidence, independence, and essential learning skills in a nurturing environment.

Role Overview

Being a SEND TA, you will assist teachers and SENCOs in delivering personalised learning and behaviour support plans.

As a SEND TA, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with a range of additional learning needs.
  • Help create a calm, structured, and supportive classroom environment.
  • Assist teachers and SENCOs in delivering personalised learning and behaviour support plans.
  • Encourage pupils to develop communication skills, independence, and positive learning behaviours.
  • Support emotional regulation, confidence-building, and wellbeing.
  • Monitor progress and share observations with staff to guide ongoing support.
Requirements for SEND Teaching Assistant
  • Previous experience supporting pupils with SEND or additional needs (school or care experience desirable).
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and behaviour management abilities.
  • A caring, patient, and proactive approach to supporting learners.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
  • A full CV covering the last 10 years, with explanations for any gaps.
