Job summary

AP Education is recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant for Huntingdon. You will provide face-to-face 2:1 support to learners from Early Years to KS4, assisting with core subjects and SEND-specific tasks in a term-time schedule.

You will help manage behaviour, deliver a therapeutic and adaptable approach, and prepare progress reports while liaising with SALT/OT or social workers as needed. Attendance reporting and transitions to appropriate settings are included.

Qualifications

• Proven experience supporting children with SEND/SEMH requirements.
• Background in education, youth work, or therapeutic settings.
• HLTA certification preferred; applicants with 2 years UK experience are welcome.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Compassionate, dependable and initiative-taking mindset.

Responsibilities

• Provide face-to-face 2:1 support with students from Early Years to KS4.
• Assist preparing learning materials for core subjects (Maths, English, Science) or SEND-specific.
• Implement effective behaviour management using positive strategies.
• Provide a therapeutic and adaptable approach to education, meeting each learner's needs.
• Assist Tutor to write detailed daily/weekly progress reports and liaise with external professionals as needed.
• Manage daily attendance reporting via attendance software.
• Assist learners in transitioning to mainstream or specialist education settings.
