GSL Education is working in partnership with a mainstream school in Bognor Regis to recruit a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to work in their SEND unit.

We are seeking someone with experience supporting children and young people with complex medical needs, physical disabilities, and autism. This role will also include assisting with toileting and personal care, so a sensitive and respectful approach is essential.

Your role will include:
  • Supporting pupils with complex medical conditions and physical disabilities within the classroom and during daily routines.
  • Providing 1:1 or small group support to students with autism and other additional needs.
  • Assisting with personal care, including toileting, in line with pupils’ care plans.
  • Encouraging independence, engagement, and communication in all areas of learning.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and families to ensure the best possible outcomes for each child.
The ideal candidate will:
  • Have previous experience supporting pupils with SEND, particularly those with medical or physical needs.
  • Be confident, patient, and empathetic, with a calm approach.
  • Be willing to assist with personal care
  • Have excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Be passionate about helping every child reach its full potential.
