Job summary

Heckington House School in East Heckington, Lincolnshire seeks a SEND Teacher to plan and deliver high-quality, inclusive lessons for pupils with complex needs and challenging behaviours. The role focuses on safeguarding, trauma-informed practice, and collaborative work within the school community.

We offer specialist provision for SEMH with small class sizes (4 students to 2 adults) and vocational subjects alongside core curricula. QTS/QTLS is required; two years' SEND experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • A committed and passionate view of students with SEND.
  • At least two years’ experience in a SEND environment or similar provision.
  • QTS/QTLS is a requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and teach lessons, working with small groups and individual students.
  • Prepare teaching materials, take registers and write reports.
  • Help students develop confidence, independence and encourage them to learn.
  • Manage behaviour, mark work and talk to parents and carers about their children's progress.
  • Open to a specialist with SEND and SEMH teaching experience.

Purpose of the Role

To plan and deliver high-quality, inclusive teaching that meets the diverse needs of pupils with complex needs and challenging behaviours. The Teacher will modelprofessional integrity and the EPIC values, work collaboratively within the school community, and adhere strictly to the Staff Code of Conduct to promote a safe, respectful, and nurturing learning environment.

At Heckington House School

We offer specialist provision for students with SEMH and those who have found mainstream education difficult. Our facilities include small, nurturing classrooms fully equipped with smart boards to facilitate learning.

We provide vocational subjects such as Hair and Beauty and Construction alongside traditional curriculum areas. Our class sizes are based on a model of 4 students to 2 adults enabling us to provide a trauma led approach to both pastoral support and educational progress. We will offer you the chance to make a real difference to young people and give you the time to plan to meet the needs of a small group of students.
