Aspire People is recruiting dedicated SEND Teaching Assistants for a Primary Alternative Provision in Bolton this September. You will support pupils with a range of SEND and SEMH needs in a nurturing setting, building trust and promoting engagement with learning.

Qualifications

  • Hold UK degree in SEND Education, Psychology, Educational Psychology, or related field.
  • Experience supporting children with SEND in a primary setting.
  • Experience working with SEMH needs.
  • Patient, empathetic and resilient with passion for supporting vulnerable children.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with SEND and SEMH needs in the classroom.
  • Build positive relationships to encourage engagement in learning.
  • Assist the class teacher with personalised learning activities and interventions.
  • Help pupils develop confidence, emotional resilience and social skills.
  • Promote positive behaviour and support pupils in overcoming barriers to education.
  • Collaborate with teachers and school team to help every child reach potential.

Aspire People are recruiting dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistants to join a specialist Primary Alternative Provision in Bolton this September.

About the School

This specialist setting supports pupils from Year 1 to Year 6 who have been permanently excluded or are at serious risk of exclusion from mainstream education. The school provides a nurturing, structured environment where pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs receive the tailored support they need to re-engage with learning and achieve positive outcomes.

The Role
  • Support pupils with a range of SEND and SEMH needs within the classroom.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships that encourage pupils to engage with learning.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering personalised learning activities and interventions.
  • Help pupils develop confidence, emotional resilience, and social skills.
  • Promote positive behaviour and support pupils in overcoming barriers to education.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and the wider school team to ensure every child reaches their potential.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Hold a UK degree in SEND Education, Psychology, Educational Psychology, or a related field.
  • Have previous experience supporting children with SEND in a primary school setting.
  • Have experience working with children with SEMH needs.
  • Are patient, empathetic, and resilient, with a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable children.
  • Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Are available to work full-time from September on a long-term basis.
Requirements
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one.
  • Be able to provide references covering the last two years.
  • Have the right to work in the UK.
