About the Role

We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join our SEN school in Shrewsbury. This role is designed to support a Key Stage 3 student with Autism, ADHD, and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs. The position is offered on a temporary-to-permanent basis, with a daily rate of 95 to 110, depending on experience.

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with an individual student to support their academic progress, personal development, and emotional well-being. You'll have the chance to make a real difference by providing tailored support that meets the unique needs of the student, helping them to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.

We also offer trial days, so you can get a sense of the school environment before making a full commitment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one support to a Key Stage 3 student with Autism, ADHD, and SEMH.
  • Assist in the delivery of differentiated lessons, ensuring the student is engaged and able to access the curriculum.
  • Support the student in their social and emotional development, helping them to build resilience and confidence.
  • Implement individual learning plans and behaviour management strategies tailored to the student's needs.
  • Provide feedback to teachers and other professionals about the student's progress, challenges, and achievements.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment to help the student succeed.
  • Support the student with personal care or other specific needs, as required.
  • Work collaboratively with other teaching assistants, teachers, and external agencies to ensure the student's needs are met.
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour and contribute to a safe and respectful learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Previous experience working with children or young people with special educational needs, particularly Autism, ADHD, and SEMH.
  • A calm, patient, and flexible approach, with the ability to adapt to individual student needs.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
  • A proactive attitude and a genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs.
  • Experience in implementing behaviour management strategies and supporting students' emotional and social development.
  • An understanding of the challenges faced by children with Autism, ADHD, and SEMH and a commitment to helping them overcome these challenges.
  • A willingness to engage in professional development and training.
