SEND Teaching Assistant - Secondary School - Manchester

Start Date: Tuesday 22nd April 2025
Location: Manchester
Pay: 100 - 110 per day (dependent on experience)

Are you an experienced education professional with a passion for supporting young people with special educational needs? Tradewind Recruitment is currently working with a forward‑thinking and inclusive secondary school in Manchester, seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team from 22nd April 2025.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a diverse school environment that is deeply committed to inclusive education and the wellbeing of every pupil.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will work closely with the school's SENCO and teaching staff to provide personalised support to pupils with a range of additional needs, including autism spectrum condition (ASC), ADHD, moderate learning difficulties, and emotional and behavioural challenges. Support will be provided both in‑class and through small group or 1:1 intervention sessions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide dedicated support to pupils with SEND, adapting resources and strategies to meet individual needs
  • Work collaboratively with teachers to help deliver engaging and inclusive lessons
  • Contribute to the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and EHCPs
  • Encourage student engagement, independence, and resilience
  • Monitor pupil progress and communicate effectively with staff and parents/carers where appropriate
  • Support positive behaviour in line with the school's policies
Requirements:
  • Applicants must have previous experience working in a school or educational setting - applications from those without this experience will not be considered
  • A sound understanding of a variety of special educational needs and strategies for effective support
  • Patience, adaptability, and a calm, nurturing approach
  • A relevant qualification (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant) is desirable
  • An Enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one
  • Full‑time availability from Tuesday 22nd April 2025
