Job summary

A community support organization in Surrey is seeking a SEND Programme Year Leader to guide and support adults with learning disabilities. You will lead a year group, help set and achieve personal goals, and deliver engaging content across community venues. Job description
Role

SEND Programme Year Leader (Further Education), internally referred to as Building Futures Year Leader, for adults with mild to moderate learning disabilities.

Overview

We are looking for people to support learners in a year leader capacity on our fantastic community based learning programme, Building Futures, around the local Guildford and Woking areas.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and guide a year group of up to 10 young adults, with the support of a Building Futures Project Worker.
  • Work with the adults to set and achieve the targets, goals and aspirations they identify during their involvement in our programme.
  • Deliver the programme content in the community, with a mix of indoor and outdoor delivery at multiple community locations.
Qualifications
  • Experience of leading group sessions, both in developing content and delivery.
  • Natural and efficient organiser.
  • Team player and self‑starter with a can‑do positive attitude.
  • Good communicator who can proactively communicate with individuals within our network, the adults supported and their families and/or support network.
  • Good level of fitness and stamina due to the physical nature and community working of the programme.
  • Proactive and keen for continuous improvement in yourself and the adults you are supporting, contributing to the development of the programme and working closely with the team.
  • Age 18 or above.
  • Right to work in the UK. Note we are currently unable to provide visa sponsorship.
  • Willing to provide suitable reference and undertake a DBS Check. The initial cost of the DBS application will be paid for by halow. (Note: it is a criminal offence for people who are barred from working in Regulated Activity under the Safeguarding and Vulnerable Groups Act 2006 to apply for a role that requires them to work unsupervised with that particular group.)
Location

Sessions are based at community venues across Surrey, primarily around Guildford and Woking.

Working hours

Full time 40 hours per week, Monday‑Friday 9am to 5pm, with occasional weekends and evenings for specific events. If weekly work hours are exceeded due to the demands of the programme, Time Off In Lieu (TOIL) will be given.

Salary and benefits

Salary: £28,875 per annum. Annual leave: 33 days, inclusive of bank holidays.
