Telford & Wrekin Council is seeking a SEND/Pastoral Teaching Assistant to support primary pupils across the school. The role involves 32.5 hours weekly during term time, with PD days as required, working closely with teachers to deliver targeted interventions and 1:1 support. A Paediatric First Aid qualification is preferred or willingness to undertake.

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, organised and committed to safeguarding, promoting inclusion and wellbeing for all pupils.

SEND/Pastoral Teaching Assistant

32.5 hours per week term time only plus PD days when required.

Scale 2 Point 3 - £13.45 per hour

We wish to appoint an enthusiastic, organised and passionate Teaching Assistant to support children across our school.

We are looking for candidates who:

• Have experience of assisting children of primary age
• Support pupils with SEND, SEMH needs and pastoral care, ensuring they feel safe, valued and included.
• Are committed, creative, flexible and passionate – setting high expectations of care, achievement, behaviour, inclusion and safeguarding.
• Work closely with teachers to deliver targeted interventions, 1:1 support, with small groups and adapt learning to meet individual needs.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with children, encouraging confidence, resilience and independence
• Promote pupils’ social, emotional and behavioural development, offering guidance and support when needed.
• Assist in creating a nurturing classroom environment where all children can thrive.
• Communicate effectively with staff, parents and external agencies to support pupil progress and wellbeing.
• Demonstrate patience, empathy and flexibility in responding to diverse needs.
• Uphold the school’s values and safeguarding responsibilities at all times.
• Will be an active part of our enthusiastic and dedicated team.
• Has, or is prepared to undertake, a Paediatric First Aid qualification
• Maintain confidentiality at all times and observe GDPR guidelines
• Can provide support 1:1, with small groups and within a classroom setting, including providing intimate care.
