Job summary

TeacherActive Ltd. is seeking a dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistant (LSA) for a specialist school in Benfleet, Essex. The role involves 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with complex needs, including ASC, SLD and PMLD, in a nurturing, inclusive setting.

You will assist teachers with engaging activities, support communication and behaviour, and provide personal care where required. Training is available and previous SEND experience is highly valued.

dedicated and compassionate SEND Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a fantastic specialist school in

Benfleet, Essex, starting after the October half-term.

The school supports children and young people with a range of complex learning needs and disabilities, providing a nurturing, inclusive and supportive environment where every pupil is encouraged to reach their full potential.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous SEND experience who is looking to make a real difference in a specialist educational setting.

The Role

As a SEND Learning Support Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional learning needs.
• Supporting pupils with autism (ASC), severe learning difficulties (SLD), profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) and complex needs, depending on the class.
• Assisting teachers with delivering engaging and accessible learning activities.
• Supporting pupils with communication, emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
• Providing personal care where required.
• Helping pupils develop independence, confidence and essential life skills.
• Creating a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

• Has previous experience working with children or young people with SEND.
• Is patient, caring, reliable and enthusiastic.
• Has experience supporting pupils with complex needs, although additional training can be provided.
• Is comfortable assisting with personal care where required.
• Can work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Is available to start after October half-term.
• Experience in specialist schools, care settings, residential services or mainstream SEND provisions would be highly beneficial.
