SEND Key Worker – Staffordshire

Day Rate: £180–£250 per day

Hours: 37 per week

Working Pattern: Hybrid

We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated SEND Key Worker to join Staffordshire’s Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND) service. This is a vital role that supports children, young people and adults with SEND, ensuring that their needs are accurately assessed and that their Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) are outcome-focused, legally compliant, and person-centred. This position offers a hybrid working arrangement and an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by coordinating multi‑agency support and empowering individuals and families to achieve positive, sustainable outcomes.

About the Role

As a SEND Key Worker, you will coordinate and facilitate the assessment of need and the development of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) in line with the SEND Code of Practice and relevant legislation. You will act as a central point of contact for individuals with SEND and their families, ensuring that assessments, support planning and interventions are timely, holistic and reflective of the individual’s strengths, needs and aspirations. You will also collaborate closely with Social Care, Educational Psychology, Health professionals and external agencies to ensure a consistent and joined‑up approach to supporting individuals with SEND across Staffordshire.

Key Responsibilities – Supporting Children, Young People & Adult
  • Act as a key worker for individuals of all ages with SEND, building strong, collaborative relationships that promote independence, choice and empowerment.
  • Develop outcome‑focused EHCPs by coordinating specialist assessments and securing high‑quality professional contributions.
  • Analyse written, verbal and observational information to understand individual needs, strengths and potential.
Requirements – Essential
  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant field OR significant experience in education, social care, childcare, advice and guidance, or related sectors.
  • Experience in a SEND, social care or education setting.
  • Knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and relevant legislation.
  • Experience coordinating multi‑agency assessments or EHCP processes.
  • Strong commitment to ongoing personal and professional development.
  • Significant experience in planning personalised support for children, young people or adults with disabilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multi‑agency partners and families.
