About the role

We are currently recruiting for a skilled, compassionate, and engaging Higher Level Teaching Assistant to work in a dedicated and experienced team, supporting primary age children, 5-11 years, with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. All children have an Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP) for a range of needs including Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) and Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC).

This is a temporary position to start as soon as possible, with the opportunity to develop into a permament position with school.

  • Work closely with the SENCO, Speech and Language Therapists, and class teachers to plan and deliver tailored interventions.
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support, promoting communication, social interaction, and access to learning.
  • Use strategies to support pupils with ASD, including visual timetables, social stories, and structured routines.
  • Contribute to EHCP reviews and progress monitoring.
  • Promote inclusion and celebrate the individuality of each child.
About You

  • HLTA status or equivalent experience in a similar role.
  • Experience working with children with SEND, particularly in the areas of speech and language and autism.
  • A calm, nurturing approach and excellent communication skills.
  • A collaborative approach and strong teamwork skills.
  • Knowledge of strategies such as PECS, Makaton, Attention Autism, or Zones of Regulation (desirable but not essential)
